    Key Variables

    Tonne-kilometres: Unit of measurement of goods transport which represents the transport of one tonne over one kilometre. The distance to be considered is the distance actually run.

    Available modes include:

    • Road transport

    • Rail transport, excluding trams or metro systems

    • Inland waterway transport (covers navigable rivers, lakes, canals and estuaries)
