| Introduction and key takeaways | The total motorised road mileage in Germany amounted to 716,3 billion kilometres in 2024, excluding human-powered vehicles (HPV). Over the observed period, total mileage declined by about 4% and, like several other indicators, has not yet recovered to its 2019 level, remaining almost 9% below that peak. Passenger cars account for more than 80% of total mileage. However, their share has decreased by slightly more than 2 percentage points over the past decade. In contrast, trucks and lorries as well as light commercial vehicles have increased their share over time. |
