Global Sales Statistics is published by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The dataset provides official statistics on global motor vehicle sales, compiled and disseminated by OICA. It reports annual sales volumes of motor vehicles at country level and in aggregated form, based on data submitted by national automotive associations and industry sources.

The dataset contains the following dimensions:

  • Geography: Country level data covering multiple countries as reflected in the dataset metadata, with country groupings corresponding to international motor vehicle markets, enabling cross-country comparison and aggregation at international level.

  • Time: Annual observations from 2005-01-01 to 2024-12-31.

  • Vehicle categories: Passenger cars and commercial vehicles; split in separate files.

  • Indicator: Number of vehicles sold, expressed as annual sales volumes in units.
